Kimberley regularly addresses legal issues specific to the education sector, including interpretation of the Education Act and Regulations and other applicable laws, student safety and discipline matters, special education, human rights and equity, family law issues, privacy and governance matters.

Kimberley frequently assists clients in understanding their privacy obligations under municipal, provincial and/or federal privacy legislation, including addressing privacy issues, assisting with access requests, privacy breaches and complaints, assessments of privacy risks and the development and/or review of privacy policies and protocols.

Kimberley’s employment and human resources practice includes assisting employers and employees in unionized and non-unionized work environments throughout the various stages of the employment relationship, including: the drafting or review of employment agreements, the development and/or review of human resource policies and resolution of workplace-related matters, health and safety and accommodation issues, performance matters, and addressing employee terminations or wrongful dismissal claims.

As part of her administrative and professional regulatory practice, Kimberley acts as independent legal counsel in discipline, fitness to practice proceedings and student discipline matters. Kimberley also provides advice and counsel to individuals in respect of professional regulatory obligations and investigations.

Kimberley appears before various administrative tribunals, including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Ontario College of Teachers. Kimberley has also appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice.
